I have a sweet tooth! Oh yes! I have a major sweet tooth. AND, I love nuts, so combining the two (nuts and sugar) in this quick and easy candied pecan recipe is literally one of my favorites from BFJ’s healthy vegan basics. Pecans have a sweet, nutty, buttery flavor, and are eaten fresh, roasted, and used in all varieties of recipes, particularly desserts.
A little bit about pecans. First, what exactly are pecans and where do they come from? Pecans are a nut produced by a certain species of hickory tree native to North America. Most of the U.S. pecan crop comes from New Mexico, Texas, and Georgia. Wild pecans were a major food source for Indigenous peoples in what is now known as North America. Pecans have been cultivated commercially since the 1880s.
